About me

I am a wife, mother, lover of yoga, and a lover of books. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa from Vassar College, I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Michigan. I have worked as a college professor, psychologist in private practice and at college counseling centers, and as a student affairs administrator.

Being diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease) in my early 30’s was perhaps one of the most important moments of my life. Realizing that lifestyle issues such as stress and food choices could dramatically affect my health and well-being sent me off on an adventure to find relationships, work, and leisure activities that would support, rather than detract from, my health.

I became a certified yoga instructor in 2008, completing my certification from the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara. I am an RYT-200 yoga teacher, registered with Yoga Alliance. In 2022, I completed my health and wellness coaching certification from the University of California, Irvine’s AIM Health and Wellness Coaching Certificate Program. I am now a national board certified health and wellness coach.

Although I do have a license to practice psychology in the state of California, L.A.B. Wellness Coaching and Yoga, LLC is a health and wellness coaching company, where I do not conduct psychotherapy. If you are looking for therapy, I’d be happy to help you find a qualified mental health provider and to then partner with this person and with you to support the care they provide you.
